No Pussy Blues

Just started listening the all new Grinderman cd. Nick Cave's side project is way more Rock oriented, to be considered Garage Rock.

Grinderman

Rough edged music, working quite well. I consider it a follow up of Nick Cave's solo tour, last year. On that tour he played some of his songs a bit more strongly and more rough, which was quite nice. All I can say is that in Grinderman, his redneck mustache is better looking than it was in the Bad Seeds line-up.

I can only suggest listening to a couple of their tunes on MySpace.

Not so Supreme, Commander

I was playing my new favorite computergame this morning, Supreme Commander. I've reached the last stage of one of the campaigns now (UEF), in which I am under siege by the badly named "Monkey Lord".

I continuously get crushed by hordes of these things, which kill everything in sight with a single shot. Luckily, this time I was smart enough to have a savegame, which I tend to forget.

Ah well, the games are over, time for MCAD studying...

I spent all me money on whiskey and beer

Today I went to my favorite shop in town again, the "whisky koning". A local whisky specialist with over 1400 different kinds o' scotch, irish, welsh, american and canadian whisky in stock. I bought myself a nice 15 year old Highland Park. Just too good a scotch to leave in the shop.

I spent an hour before I made my choice, and I would've spent 2 hours there if my girl didn't have to work at the butcher's.

I thought about buying a really expensive Japanese whisky, since they are highly rated by the experts and it is something different, but my dad-in-law will be here in two weeks (who likes a good whisky as well) and I'll probably treat myself to that than.

Goodness, goodness...

I thought about buying myself another Talisker, since they are always a huge success, but to differ from the regular setting is a good thing too. And with a Highland Park, you're never wrong.

Finally

So Carnaval is finally over. I can listen to my own music again at home, without some Brass Band coming through. Hopefully the local government will clean up the streets a bit since it smells and looks like the end of a three day festival. Everywhere it smells like beer, piss and vomit, and frankly, the streets are covered in beer, piss, vomit and plastic cups.

The damage is relatively low, the cleaning will be done by public services, and the only window that broke is nextdoor, so we're reasonably safe it seems. Our cat settled down a bit as well. Didn't like the music too much, too loud and too sudden. The poor critter took refuge under our bed, and decided it was right to punish us for allowing the music to be heard. Every second we walk around it attacks our legs, and when I'm on a chair or on the couch it starts to eat through my arms... Cool animal...

Carnaval

The south of the country is going crazy this weekend, because of the Carnaval. A couple of days of drinking and partying and making a complete ass of yourself. Half of the city is dressed up, the red-white-yellow flag is everywhere and you feel like an idiot if you wear regular clothing.

Sounds nice, but then there are the "outsiders", like me. I didn't grow up with carnaval, so it's all quite strange to me, and I don't see the reason why regular Joes have to dress up like retards to party, if they can't in real life.

Worst of that are the "posers". People from outside of the area, who like to party along, but don't really have a clue. You find them on public transport going south, pretending to know everything about it, pretending to be drunk, at 10 A.M.

Luckily not many of my friends go along with the madness, so I'm not too much of an exception there.

These are just the couple of days in which I regret living in Den Bosch city centre, the music from the bars nextdoor is loud, people screaming for the last 10 hours, a complete mess in the streets... Glad when it's wednesday again...

First Post

Well, that's a first for me. My own blog, on my own site. Quite wicked.

The point of this blog will be to upload some personal experiences, about me, my life, my job, the usual...
